Georgetown, TX – May 24,
2006– Summertime in Williamson County can only mean one thing; it was time
once again for the Williamson County Historical Museum’s annual Summer
History Explorer’s Day! This year’s theme was “A Day in the Life of a
Cowboy.” K. R. Wood, acclaimed singer, songwriter, and historian, performed his famous
Western Show at the event that included live music, cowboy
sing-a-longs, an authentic cowboy camp, stick-horse rodeo, and
historical chuck wagon.

Quester Donation 2006
The Sage in Bloom Questers
recently made a generous contribution to be used to fund the conservation
and storage of the Williamson County Historical Museum's historic quilt
collection.

Central Texas Questers
The C.T. Questers met on Wed., June
14th at the Williamson County Museum in Georgetown to present $900 to the
Director, Chris Dyer. This donation will be used to purchase much needed
exhibit
cases for the museum.

TX) –- Williamson County Historical Museum held a
cemetery tour and tombstone rubbing demonstration -

up and Map Williamson County Historical Museum hosted a free tour of the historic Lawrence Chapel Cemetery
on Saturday, May 20, and had a demonstration of
tombstone rubbing techniques. Lawrence Chapel Cemetery, is the resting place of many of
Williamson County's earliest settlers, it is in southeastern
Williamson County and lies approximately 15 miles southeast of
Taylor on CR 473. Most notable among the cemetery's "residents"
is Adam Lawrence and several members of the Olive family.
The Williamson County Historical Museum opens its newest exhibit.
A
Heritage to Draw From”, featuring the folk woodcarvings of Rod Johnson and his
late father, Sigurd E. Johnson of Jonah. The exhibit opened at the museum on Friday Dec.
2nd 2006 at 12:00PM.

Celebrates Black History Month with Guest Speaker
On February 16th,
the Williamson County Historical Museum welcomed guest Karen Riles
who will spoke on the topic of African-American history in Central Texas.
Riles is the Austin History
Center’s Neighborhood Liaison and the state’s leading expert on the topic of
Rosenwald Schools and African-America history.
